THE Eyemouth Dreamboys (almost) revealed all at a charity event to raise much-needed funds for the Berwick & District Cancer Support Group.

A whopping £1,600 was raised at The First and Last, Burnmouth, which was attended by an overwhelming turnout of local people.

As well as the Eyemouth Dreamboys, who did the nearly-full monty for everyone’s amusement, Celtic fanatic Jim McGowan was sponsored by friends to wear rivals Rangers’ jersey.

Entertainment was provided by local bands, with Jim’s band We Were Kings rocking the headline slot.

Berwick acts Yit and Terry Wood also played, with piper Michael Wilson doing a turn, and DJ Craig Robertson keeping the crowd going throughout the day.

Jim said: “I am chuffed to bits we pulled this together and it was a massive success which will keep the cancer cars’ wheels turning for a while.

“I am really proud to be part of this community and it shows we’re willing to help others in need. I want to thank them all for their support, massive thanks to the First and Last and to local businesses for supporting the event.”

The Berwick & District Cancer Support Group was founded in 1992 by a group of people who, through experience, knew how difficult it was to get to main hospitals for cancer appointments.

With the closest major hospital almost 60 miles away, they started up in the hope that no one would have to worry about travelling to their appointments again.

The group, which is run on a totally voluntary basis, provides free transport to any cancer sufferer to all major hospitals in the area such as Wansbeck, Newcastle, Borders General and Edinburgh for any cancer related appointment.
