Record £1M ‘X1’ plate

the first number plate in Northumberland, which was originally owned by the late motoring pioneer W.T. Hornsby of Berwick, has been put up for sale for a record-breaking £1million.

The ‘X1’ plate, which becomes Britian’s most expensive registration plate, was originally issued by Northumberland County Council in December 1903.

Described as ‘exceptional and historical’, it is being advertised by Regtransfers.co.uk which have given it a £1 million asking price. This would make it £560,000 more expensive than the plate ‘F1’ which was bought by Bradford-based businessman Afzal Kahn in 2008.
