DESPITE the difficult growing season there were some top class exhibits at Gordon Flower Show on Saturday with the judges having a difficult task in selecting the winners.

Cup winners were as follows: Laing Memorial Cup for best exhibit in cut flowers and pot plants sections - J. Cossigny; Robert Kirk Perpetual Challenge Cup for best exhibit in rose classes - V. Haldane; Gordon Flower Show Challenge Cup for most points in cut flowers and pot plants sections - V. Haldane, runner-up - A. Rendall; Cairns Virtue Memorial Tray for best begonia - J. Cossigny; Craig Challenge Cup for most points in floral art section - A. Smail, runner-up - S. Scott Aiton; George Wood Trophy for best exhibit in floral art section - Angela Smail; Gordon Flower Show Cup for most points in vegetables section - B. Massie, runner-up - D. Smail; Tweedie Plate for best exhibit in horticultural section - B. Massie (box of vegetables); Novice prize - R. Seville.

Gladstone Cup for best exhibit in baking section - R. Seville (coffee cake); Cup for most points in baking section - R. Seville, joint runners-up - S. Wood and K. Grieve; Winnifred and John Waldie Cup for most points in jams and preserves - M. Beattie, runner-up - H. Donald. Cup for most points in handicrafts section - H. Donald, joint runners-up - S. Wood and F. Gilchrist.

Gordon Junior Cup - J. Dawes, runner-up - N. Dawes; Intermediate Cup - H. Hutchison, runner-up - G. Dawes; Helen Lauder Cup - B. Redpath. Best in school art work - Maisie Tennent; Susan Scotchmer Trophy - Darcy Robson; Committee Prize - Beth Redpath.
