Permission granted for floodlighting

AT a meeting of Scottish Borders Council’s Planning and Building Standards Committee last Thursday, May 31, permission was granted for floodlighting to go up at the old Berwickshire High School in Langtongate, Duns as work is being done to improve the layout of the pitches on the site.

The existing grassed pitch areas are presently being reconfigured and the plan is to have better pitches that can be used during hours of darkness, hence the need for floodlighting columns.

Permission was granted for the application submitted by Sport Duns on the condition that the floodlights are only to be operated on weekdays and they should not be operated between 9.30pm and 7am.

This proviso was put in place to ensure that the development does not prejudice the living conditions of residents living in houses nearby.
