Pease Bay mascot Vinnie hands over cash to lifeboat
ST ABBS RNLI Lifeboat Station had a furry friend call into the station last week to carry out a cheque presentation.
After a fantastic year of fundraising last year, the good work continues in earnest after a local caravan park handed over vital money for the much needed service that serves the local community.
Pease Bay Leisure Park is right beside the coast and throughout the season sometimes requires the assistance of the RNLI and other emergency services. Every year the park holds a Charity Open Day and has raffles throughout the year.
Last year St Abbs RNLI was selected to receive a share of the money raised from their efforts. The station were honoured to receive a cheque for £480 when is was recently presented by Mr Colin Boswell, General Manager at Pease Bay as well as Vinnie the Fox the Pease Bay Mascot to Mr Alistair Crowe, Lifeboat Operations Manager at St Abbs.
Alistair commented: “It’s great to have support from the caravan park but as well as that from the local community. At the end of last year Gareth and Carmel from West Loch Fisheries and the customers of Crosslaw Caravan Park contributed to the fund which all goes to saving lives at sea. We are thankful too everyone that contributes”.
Colin Boswell, General Manager at Pease Bay added: “All the customers and staff at Pease Bay really appreciate the fantastic work that the RNLI do, some of the caravan owners also have memories of being rescued by the volunteer crew at St Abbs. It’s great to see ordinary people providing an extraordinary service risking life and limb on every callout and it made me feel very humble to be along side such a great team that made me feel very welcome.”
