New A1 resurfacing work gets underway

A £265,000 investment by Transport Scotland to resurface the A1 trunk road between East Reston Mill and Ayton got underway on Monday and the work is expected to last two weeks.

During the first week operations will be carried out between 8am and 4.30pm each day under temporary traffic signal control. No works are planned for Saturday, February 23, but will restart on Sunday, February 24, from 6.30pm

During the second week, operations will be carried out between 6.30pm and 1am each night and between 8am and 4.30pm each day. Temporary traffic signal control will be in place throughout the week.

Some substantial delays are expected, however BEAR Scotland will make every effort to ensure that any delays are kept to a minimum. Any disruption arising from the roadworks over the next two weeks is regretted but this must be balanced against the need to maintain and improve the network.
