Meeting to discuss business ‘hub’ project in Dunbar

CASTELLAU House, the former library building in Dunbar, could be transformed into a “hub” for creative businesses in East Lothian.

The project is the brainchild of interior designer Fiona Lambert from East Linton who found her search for affordable premises difficult when she decided to work nearer home after being based in Edinburgh.

She is hoping that other creative business people such as designers and visual artists will be interested in the idea and is inviting them to attend a meeting on Monday, January 14, at 10am in Castellau House which is situated opposite the Bleachingfield where the library is now housed in the town’s new community centre.

Fiona explained: “I was looking for affordable workspace in East Lothian and discovered that Castellau House was available. The idea of sharing workspace with other creative people has always appealed to me but there is currently nothing in East Lothian providing these facilities.”

She said the former library building, which was owned by East Lothian Council, could provide studio and workshop space, an exhibition and meeting area as well as shared office space.

“The centre would also serve the local community by running a programme of creative courses and events such as exhibitions and craft fairs, and provide training and volunteering opportunities,” said Fiona.
