Dunbar lifeboat fundraiser Marie Headley has had a close shave to help the town’s volunteer lifeboat crew.

Big hearted Marie had her head shaved in a fundraising event that raised £1,000 for lifeboat funds.

The close shave took place at Dunbar’s Royal British Legion as part of the RNLI’s national SOS fundraising day.

Supporters and members of the public also took part in a general knowledge quiz based around the names of popular confectionary.

Marie is one of the town’s busiest lifeboat supporters and runs the harbour side lifeboat souvenir shop along with her husband Ken.

Fundraising convener Veronica Davies said: “This was a marvellous effort on behalf of Marie and everyone else who contributed to the success of the evening.

“We are grateful to all the individuals and businesses who contributed to the success of the evening.”

Marie said: “I was amazed the event raised so much. I thought we would be lucky to raise a couple of hundred pounds but in the event friends, family and other supporters came up trumps.

“Its a great cause - but I do hope it won’t be too long before it grows back in.”
