Initiative becomes a Trust

Having successfully brought together community, voluntary, private and public sectors and having secured the support of the Secretary of State for Scotland, local MSPs and SBC and Eyemouth Town Community Council councillors as well as a number of different organisations including the Chamber of Trade and BHA Homes, members of The Eyemouth and District Initiative Group voted overwhelmingly last week to become a development trust.

Henceforth to be called the Eyemouth and District Community Trust, the new Trust will be a community organisation owned and managed by local residents.

Wendy Reid, Development Officer for the Development Trusts Association (DTA) Scotland has worked with, and supported the Initiative Group to identify the advantages to the group of becoming a Trust.

Members are now looking forward to working in partnership with other private, public and third sector organisations to achieve the sustainable regeneration of Eyemouth and District, generating income through enterprise and harnessing the many talents of the community.

Email eyemouthinitiative@yahoo.co.uk for membership forms and further information.
