Grants are available for shop fronts
Scottish Borders Council is offering grant support towards repairs and enhancement works to shop fronts in town and village centres.
The aim of the scheme is to: enhance the shopping environment in town and village centres; restore historical features to enhance the conservation identity of civic centres; remove areas of neglect/ blight from the high street and improve the socio economic performance of town centres.
Grants of up to 80% of eligible costs with a minimum grant of £500 and up to a maximum of £3,000 per property are available for capital works to improve, upgrade or restore shop fronts of town centre businesses including retail outlets, cafes/ restaurants/ public houses; financial/ professional services and tourism/ leisure facilities. Grants will be assessed in two rounds. Applications should be submitted before Friday, June 8 for Round 1 and Friday, August 31 for Round 2.
All Borders towns and villages are eligible apart from Kelso as properties in the town will be eligible for funding under the Sainsbury’s Shop Front Improvement Grant Scheme or the Kelso Townscape Heritage Initiative. For further information email shopfronts@scotborders.gov.uk
