PUPILS at one Berwickshire school got a nice surprise when they returned after half term all thanks to a nearby construction firm.

Thomson’s of Dunbar helped bring a smile to the children of Cockburnspath Primary school last week when they installed a new piece of playground equipment for nothing.

Cockburnspath Parents Council are in the process of improving the playground space and had secured funding from the Drone Hill Community Fund to purchase a tunnel net for the playground.

When match funding to help install the equipment fell through at the eleventh hour, Thomson’s stepped in and agreed to help install the equipment free of charge for the children of Cockburnspath.

A team was duly sent down with diggers, trucks and smiley men to get to work.

This was an amazing offer and the children were overjoyed to return from their February break to find that the playground now had a new piece of equipment to play on and have had plenty of fun so far testing it out.

Everyone at the school- children, parents and teachers, would like to say a huge thank you to Thomson’s for the wonderful gesture.
