GREENLAW-based Equibuddy present Dancing with Horses next Thursday (June 14) to celebrate the end of the Leader funded mobile unit project.

The event will take place at Greenlawdean, Greenlaw ,and the performance time will be 7pm-9pm. Gates will be open from 6.15pm.

Scottish Borders Leader is a European funding programme that has funded Equibuddy for almost two years. Equibuddy is a registered charity that was established in 2005. It combines work of the Riding for the Disabled (RDA) with British Equestrian Vaulting skills to help young people, including those with additional needs, to achieve their potential.

The young vaulters are preparing to present a fantastic display as thanks for the support from Leader.

The vaulters will be performing a variety of stunning gymnastic movements with their horses including jumping, flying and dancing.

Equibuddy riders have been doing extremely well in recent competitions on their highly trained horses. Last weekend, two riders from the Monteviot mobile unit, Jane Currie and Tracy Brown took part in the Regional Dressage Qualifiers at Drum Edinburgh. Some exceptional scores of over 80 per cent were achieved and both riders qualified for the RDA National Championships at Hartpury.

Parents of disabled children have said that riding with Equibuddy is a fantastic experience for their children and one even said: “it really has improved my son’s confidence in all aspects in life.”

Entrance to Dancing with Horses will be by ticket only. Tickets can be purchased the Equibuddy Office on 01361 810354 or by email to enquiries@equibuddy.org.

Prices vary with Adult tickets costing £15 and Children (under 12) costing £7. Family tickets are also available for £35 which covers two adults and two children.

Please advise of any special requirements you may have when buying the tickets.

There will be a BBQ provided by The Juicy Meat Company at the event; cost for this is covered by your ticket purchase.

There will also be additional food and refreshment stands and a raffle. The dress code is casual and Equibuddy would like to encourage people to dress appropriately according to the weather forecast.

As well as thanking Leader for their support, Equibuddy are hoping this event may encourage more volunteers to become involved with the charity.
