Energy switching roadshow comes to Grantshouse
A NEW scheme to get householders a better deal on their energy could save people in the Borders around £11 million a year, research has found.
In the face of changing energy legislation and rising premiums, Scots Together aims to encourage people to regularly check energy tariffs and switch to rates that are more suitable to their lifestyles. Ofgem research shows 86 per cent of UK householders do not know whether they are on the best energy tariff, and a third are unaware they can switch.
The Scots Together roadshow comes to Grantshouse, between 1-4pm on Thursday, March 14, so local people can chat through the benefits of switching with trained advisors – and even have the chance to change energy suppliers on the spot.
Scots Together, backed by the Department of Energy and Climate Change and Scottish Borders Council, has negotiated three of the most competitive gas and electricity tariffs currently on offer.
The negotiated tariffs are available to direct debit, prepayment customers and those that pay on receipt of their energy bill.
MP Michael Moore said: “I know that many Scots are concerned about rising energy bills. With collective switching, power in numbers means that initiatives like this can often get consumers a better price than they would as an individual buyer. I want to encourage people from across Scotland to get involved with this scheme before March 17 and see if they can get a better deal on their gas and electricity.”
