Duns industrial estate extension approved
AN area of agricultural land beside the Station Road industrial estate at Duns is to be taken into the industrial estate after a change of use to form employment land was approved by Scottish Borders Council’s planning committee.
The council’s own environment and infrastructure department applied for the change of use in order to develop a sustainable urban drainage system in the another area close to the path that lease to Sinclairshill Road.
They are also looking to add a small area of land to the overall site in the south east corner to tidy up the industrial estate’s boundary.
In their application the council department states: “It is proposed to provide new employment land for the town of Duns on land identified and zoned for employment use in the Local Plan.
“A previous planning application was approved, which allowed for extension of employment land from the existing access road, and to permit development of the site incrementally. This application is for a small additional area of employment land to the south east of the origianl approval to create a regular straight boundary over which the road system will be extended and also the north west to accommodate a larger sustainable urban drainage system than previously indicated.
“The proposal is that the employment land will be extended over a number of years; using a future part looped road system and will allow the site to be developed with a mix of uses.
“It is proposed to creaet new woodland planting to enclose, shelter and enhanceecology and environment of the site, introduce sustainable drinage and create an open aspect to the footopath along the former railway line.”
