Dunbar speed limit proposals

MEMBERS of the public are being asked their views on a proposal to trial a 20mph speed imit in residential roads in Dunbar - south of the East Coast mainline railway.

The plan is being spearheaded by East Lothian Council and the Sustaining Dunbar group.

Councillor Michael Veitch, the council’s transport spokesman, said: “The new council administration is enthusiastic about 20-mph speed limits on safety grounds. However, this must be subject to the support of local residents. I would therefore encourage people to respond to the questionnaires and to let us know what they think.”

Householders in the proposed trial area should soon receive an information leaflet and questionnaire or could go to www.sustainingdunbar.org. All Dunbar residents are invited to respond. A display board about the proposals will be on view at the Bleachingfield Centre, Countess Crescent, from October 2 to 31.
