Councillor concerned over Innerwick Post Office closure

Dunbar and East Linton councillor, Michael Veitch, has written to the Post Office Ltd to demand action following the cancellation of the ‘outreach’ Post Office service in Innerwick for two consecutive weeks.

Councillor Veitch said: “It’s bad enough that communities like Innerwick no longer have Post Offices of their own, but for the replacement outreach service, which only visits once a week, to be unavailable for two weeks is totally unacceptable. Innerwick isn’t the only village to have been affected.

“While I accept that technical problems with the equipment can occur, as in this case, there should surely be an adequate back-up facility. I have had an assurance from Post Office management that additional work is being done to rectify the situation, which I hope means the service getting back on track without further delay.”
