Car park maintenance work begins at BGH
ESSENTIAL maintenance to the main car parks at Borders General Hospital has begun this week.
An opportunity is being taken at the time of these works, which includes substantial resurfacing to the parking areas, to realign the car parking arrangements. In doing so, there will be improved traffic flow within a one-way system, and dedicated pedestrian zones will be marked.
The planned work is being undertaken within car parks 1 and 2, which are the largest and closest facilities to the hospital main entrance. This is a two-phased programme of work which will last approximately one month, dependent on weather. The car parking facilities within these areas that will remain operational for the duration of the works, inevitably providing a substantial reduction in numbers of spaces, will be reserved for patients and visitors only.
David McLuckie, Director of Estates and Facilities for NHS Borders said; “We apologise for the inconvenience during these essential repairs. All car park users are encouraged to make use of public transport or car share wherever possible. By doing this, much of the pressure will be taken from all other parking areas within the hospital grounds.”
