Borders posties congratulated

INDEPENDENT statistics released this week have shown that the Royal Mail exceeded their target for deliveries in the Scottish Borders for 2011-12.

Local MSP John Lamont has congratulated the local posties on the results, which showed they managed to deliver over 93% of first and second class mail on time.

Mr Lamont said: “Our posties do a fantastic job each year and are under a lot of pressure to constantly deliver our mail on time. These statistics show that they are more than managing to do this, and that the postal service in the Borders is in fact exceeding targets.

“This is no doubt thanks to all of the hard work carried out by those working for the post office. Whether at the sorting office or delivering door to door our posties are clearly performing and it is a comfort to know that we have such an efficient service available to us.

“I am sure that everyone in the Borders would like to thank them for their efforts and wish them an equally successful 2012-13.”
