An apple a day is the Paxton House way

THIS Sunday, October 21, sees the last big open air event at Paxton House this season when the mansion house holds its first ever Apple Day, a national event celebrating Britain’s wonderful and diverse apple heritage.

The day will involve various activities: Apple Identification and advice on growing apples; tours of the grounds and an introduction to Paxton House’s very own brand new Apple Yard; face painting, crafts and games; apple pressing; archery; traditional apple recipes in the Old Kitchen; apple pie in the Tearoom and sampling of ciders and juices from Thistly Cross Cider.

The day also includes the planting of the Jubilee Oak by the Lord Lieutenant of Berwickshire, Major Trotter at 2pm in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
