99% pass rate for Longridge Sixth Formers

LONGRIDGE Towers School produced some excellent A Level results, with over 50% at grades A*-B and over 75 % at A*-C.

The overall passrate was 99%.

These impressive results ensured that over 85 per cent of the sixth form students have been accepted at their first choice university and over 95 per cent of all students secured places on their first or second choice courses.

Exceptional candidates include Ferdinand Chum, from Berwick, who achieved A* grades in both Chemistry and Maths and A in both Biology and Physics along with an A in AS level Further Maths.

Ferdinand will be studying Dentistry then Medicine at Newcastle University.

Tom Grindell, from Yetholm, achieved grade A in all his A level subjects of Economics and Business, French and Maths along with AS level ICT.

Tom will be going to Loughborough University to study Banking, Finance and Management.

Head Teacher, Mr Tim Manning, said the school was extremely pleased with these results as it has been wiedely reported that the marking of A and AS levels has tightened up this year.

He added: “The students have all worked hard alongside the staff and they all thoroughly deserve their great success.”

The grades came in a variety of subjects, including some, like Critical Thinking, which are specifically designed to help students as they move on to university.
