£50,000 theft from Gavinton home
Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses after thieves stole £50,000 worth of goods from a house in Gavinton last week.
The burgulary, at a property on the village’s Main Street, is thought to have taken place some time between 1pm on Saturday, February 9 and 4.15pm on Friday, February 15 and was discovered by a relative of the family who live there.
Jewellery and other expensive items were stolen and officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to contact police immediately.
Detective Constable Keith Brydon said: “The property owners have been left devastated by the theft of their jewellery and are keen to have the items returned as soon as possible.
We would like to hear from anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious in the Main Street area between February 9 and 15 and are particularly keen to speak to those who remember seeing a white Transit van, which was seen outside the address on the Friday afternoon.
“Similarly, anyone with any other information that can assist with our investigation is also asked to come forward.”
