St ABBS RNLI Lifeboat Helmsman David Wilson has been presented with an award for 20 years service.

David first started his service with the RNLI at the age of 17, and since then has worked hard to become one of the helmsman’s stationed at St Abbs.

During his 20-years service David has taken part in any many rescue operations. His latest rescue was of a diver in trouble at the back of St Abbs Harbour who was extremely tired and exhausted.

Also notably, when St Abbs RNLI lifeboat was launched to help an angler off St Abbs Head last June, David was the fisherman who happened to be passing in the area at the time and raised the alarm.

He is to receive a Letter of Appreciation signed by the RNLI Chief Executive for his part in this rescue on Wednesday, June 6 at the annual presentation of awards at Perth Concert Hall.

He will be officially presented his 20 years long service medal in the summer.

All the crew and station officials at St Abbs wish to congratulate David for his great achievement and the dedication shown.
