Leitholm man remanded

A LEITHOLM man is in jail following an allegation that he brandished a firearm in the village earlier this week.

Nineteen-year-old John James Renton appeared at Selkirk Sheriff court on Tuesday charged with two firearms offences; possession of an offensive weapon; culpable and reckless conduct; vandalism; assault and a breach of the peace.

He made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further examination.

Renton was remanded in custody.
