‘Kind and caring’ Caroline will be missed

The young victim of Monday’s road accident at Chirnside has been named by police after she died in hospital yesterday evening (Wednesday June 3) at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Caroline Taylor-Smith, 18, from Duns, was involved in a collision on the A6105 at Chirnside on Monday, when her Fiat Panda Active collided with a tractor and trailer.

The road was closed westbound at Eddington and eastbound at Chirnside Hall until 10.50pm that evening.

Ms Taylor-Smith was a horse care student at Borders College.

Her course tutor, Alison Robertson, said: “Caroline was a kind and caring student and always willing to help her fellow classmates.

“She will be sadly missed by both staff and students at Borders College.”
