Former Berwickshire High School student, Jonah Birkett, 20, from Paxton is set to release his first EP.

‘Whatever it Takes’ has been long time in the making and Johah has spent his summer break from university putting the finishing touches to the project. “I have been writing songs for this EP for about 5 years so it is an amazing feeling to be so close to releasing”

Jonah has already proved a popular musician locally, with many covers and medleys well liked online. “I’ve been a part of function bands but feel that I want to do as much original and creative music as possible” he says. “It is my debut project, all songs were written by me and then arranged and built up by a great set of musicians and an amazing producer. It is pretty much a pop project with a twist. I have incorporated my own style using inspiration from a wide range of artists.”

It will be a busy year for Jonah who has enjoyed the summer break at home in the borders but will shortly be returning to Coventry to complete his third and final year of a vocals course at Nexus Institute of Creative Arts. “I am planning to gig as much as I can and really push this project as much as possible because I am very proud of how far it’s come and how it sounds. I have to thank my parents for their continued support, all of my friends and those who have listened to my music, seen my videos and given me encouragement. It has kept me going and I can’t wait for everyone to hear my first original project”
