Following his recent retirement as Eyemouth Lifeboat operations manager, James Tarvit was presented with a Certificate of Service detailing his 54 years of service to the RNLI.

Eyemouth Lifeboat’s vice-president, the Duke of Sutherland, presented James with his Certificate and described how James had held every role within the lifeboat

over the past 54 years, working his way from crew, to mechanic to coxswain, then following his retirement as coxswain, to then be a deputy launching authority and finally, holding the role as Lifeboat operations manager until his retirement from the RNLI this year. During his 54 years service, James saved 68 lives from shipwrecks.
