DUNs’ Jacqui Laidlaw has become Berwickshire Housing Association’s first ever Modern Apprentice.

Jacqui got the position after beating off competition from over 40 other applicants, excelling in aptitude and communication tests carried out at the housing association’s head offices in the town.

Jacqui is now BHA’s trainee admin assistant and her apprenticeship, which will include completing courses at Borders College, will last two years.

Jacqui said: “I am delighted to have this opportunity and am really looking forward to it. The fact I can gain some formal qualifications while I work is great.”

Helen Forsyth, BHA’s chief executive commented: “We are delighted to see Jacqui settling in so well to BHA and glad to be making a job available for someone starting out in their career.

“However, we know that there are a host of talented young people who have not yet had their chance and we are looking at ways to work with them over the coming year.”
