Another very successful Chirnside Civic Week came to a close on Saturday as revellers danced the night away to the music of High Tide at the Gala Dance in Robin’s Nest Hotel.

The week got off to a colourful start when young Selina Eaton was crowned the 2013 Gala Queen and during the week a variety of events were held in the village.

Winner of the adult tennis competition was Daniel Pattenden with Michael Blaikie runner-up.

In the under 18s the winner was also Daniel Pattenden who defeated Kieran Turner in the final.

The competition for P1-4 was won by Erin Hutton with Hamish Reynolds runner-up. The P5-7 winner was Ben Reynolds and the runner-up was Hannah Wilkes.

The bowling competition winners were Joe Condy and Keegan West.

Once again the Truck Pull at Crosshill on Thursday evening attracted a large crowd and was won by the Boxing Club. The dominoes competition was won by Jean Hunter.

The Seven-a-side football competition was won by the All Stars team of Ethan Pollock, Dylan Wood, Ewan Bolton, Daniel Pattenden, Scott, Burnett and Gary Buchan. Runners-up were Brandon Pollock, Jake Lough, Kieran Turner, Sam and Ben Langley, Jack Walley and Anthony Luggett.

Five-a-side winners were Martin Donaldson, Nathan Black, Max Reynolds, Kieran Logan and Hamish Reynolds and runners-up were Ellie Lough, Liam Snowball, Luke Simpson, Archie and Ollie.

Prize Draw winners were: 1. Allan Jennings, 2. Rena Sneddon, 3. Sandra Logan.
