A GROUP of pupils from Eyemouth high School had to have a head for figures when they took part in a Borders wide challenge recently.
The school entered a team of aspiring mathematicians into the annual ‘Enterprising Maths in the Borders’ competition held at Hawick High School on June 14.
The purpose of the competition was to test pupils in a number of mathematical tasks in a fun and challenging way.
Aaron Millar and Louise McLean from S4, and Laura Aitken and Katie McMurdo from S3 represented Eyemouth High at the event and were inspired by the level of competition.
“We have seen some really great mathematics and ideas today and we can’t wait to take these back to our school and come back next year ready to win,” said Aaron about his experience.
Mr McWilliam of the school’s maths department said he was delighted with the excellent effort made by his team.
He commented: “The kids were absolutely brilliant.
“They got stuck into all of the challenges and worked together.
“They are an asset to the school and should be congratulated on their effort and attitude. We know what we will have to do next year to win!”
