Innerwick will get flower show season underway

The flower show season is now upon us and the first to to be held in the Innerwick Horticultural Society event on Saturday, August 3.

A great family day out, the Innerwick Flower Show is a lively, friendly event for all ages. There’s plenty to see and do including arts, crafts, food, activities and demonstrations.

Every year talent in many guises blossoms forth from a small community based in the Lammermuir foothills. It is this amazing display of talent that ensures Innerwick Horticultural Society annual Flower, Vegetable and Fruit Show is high on the list of most visited and popular shows.

This much-loved event, which takes place in Innerwick village , is renowned for its friendly atmosphere, wide variety of entertainment, exhibition and children’s entertainment.

Officially opening the show this year will be Fiona Oliver whose family have deep connections with the village and particular Thurston Mains Farm, which was once part of the Thurston estate.

Innerwick Flower Show, founded in 1863 is one of the longest running flower shows in the county of East Lothian and 2013 is the 140th show and is a date to be put in your diary as it is a day the whole family can enjoy.

What talent is on display, I hear you ask? Well besides the spectacular displays of flowers, fruit and vegetables, there are a multitude of crafts in all sorts of mediums, photography, jams and of course, the ever popular home-baking.

Don’t forget your purse as there are always tempting goodies on the numerous stalls.

Entertainment is always an essential of any good show and a not to be missed part of the day.

Tranent Pipe Bank will provide the backdrop to the ever popular family Dog Show, plus we have dogs dancing to music, numerous side stalls, children’s entertainment and much more.

The tea and beer tent will provide a welcome refreshment, especially if the sun continues to shine and if you still have energy left there is an evening dance in the Village Hall from 8pm.

The Show opens at 2pm with an Official Opening at 2.15pm, so come along to this beautiful village and enjoy yourself. A fun afternoon for all the family is guaranteed.
