FOLLOWING recent news that a number of areas in the Borders will receive a boost to their broadband connection, South of Scotland Liberal Democrat MSP is encouraging communities throughout the region to state their case for an improved service.
Mr Hume said: “There have been several positive announcements on better broadband across the region recently, the most recent of which are Galashiels and Hawick, and the Annan pilot project.
“The demand for better broadband across the region is absolutely there and I’m encouraging as many people as possible to register their demand via the South of Scotland Alliance survey, which will only take a few minutes to complete.”
Below par broadband speeds have been a bone of contention for a number of Berwickshire communities over the past few years and a number of residents are involved with the South of Scotland Alliance.
It was announced in December that a total of £21 million has been committed to providing superfast broadband across southern Scotland, Scottish Borders Council’s contribution being £8.4 million.
