Police have confirmed that human remains have been found in a wooded area on the outskirts of Gordon.
The discovery was made by a member of the public at 5.40pm on Sunday and a police cordon was promptly put in place.
A local resident told ‘The Berwickshire’ this morning that officers were still on the scene and a police spokesman confirmed that forensic tests were being carried out.
Giving an official statement, they said: “Police are investigating following the discovery of human remains in a wooded area close to Gordon in the Scottish Borders on Sunday, April 21.
“Inquiries are underway to identify the remains and determine the circumstances surrounding the death.”
