The Coldstream and District History Society has been nominated by Historic Environment Scotland for an Angel Heritage Award.

The awards recognise the work of voluntary groups and individuals in protecting and celebrating our built heritage, and the results are due in November.

Amongst its current initiatives, the society is planning a season of talks.

Details of these - held every first Thursday in the month - can be found on the website www.coldstreamhistorysociety.co.uk.

The first talk will be held on Thursday October 1, at 7:30pm in the Eildon Centre and is ‘A Family Life Revealed; The Stuarts of Traquair 1491-1875’, by Catherine Maxwell-Stuart and Margaret Fox.

The society also supports the project to repair, conserve and interpret them medieval Lennel kirk as well as the improvements to the Jacob’s Well.
