Nearly two hundred historical properties in the Borders are on the Buildings at Risk register, and 22 of them are in Berwickshire.
This is far more than Edinburgh or adjacent areas such as Midlothian, East Lothian or Dumfries and Galloway, and local MSP, John Lamont said: “I’m sure that it will come as a surprise to many Borders residents that so many important buildings in our region are classified as at risk.
“What is especially concerning is that many of these buildings are listed, which should have already ensured that they were being protected from this threat.”
“If we are to see more of these properties saved for future generations it is clear that the council needs to encourage more of these properties to be restored.”
Berwisckshire High School is low risk, Reston Auction Mart building high risk.
