As the Herring Queen Committee gear up for start of this year’s festival in just a few weeks time their Facebook page has been gathering its fair share of fans
And Herring Queen followers are being rewarded for their interest with on the spot prizes being handed out.
Once the page had reached 750 likes a name was chosen at random, the name being Lisa Slicer who became the recipient of a £20 voucher for The Hair Bar on Eyemouth High Street.
Zoe Shepherson and her team at the salon are also doing the hair and make up of this year’s Herring Queen maids for free and it is the first time the business has been been involved with the festival having opened earlier this year.
The Herring Queen Facebook page is now well on its way to gathering 1000 likes and to celebrate reaching 900 another prize will be given out.
This time the lucky winner will receive a stay at Redhall Cottages.
The Herring Queen committee want the whole of Eyemouth to get on board with this year’s festival and are encouraging people to decorate their houses in bunting for the occasion.
Ribbons are now available at Seasons on Eyemouth High Street or from the Herring Queen committee via a message on the Facebook page and Herring Queen publicity officer Wendy Lough said she hoped the town would be a sea of colour in the run up to crowning day on Saturday, Juiy 27.
“We want everyone to get in the spirit of the festival,” she commented.
“It would be especially nice to see some past Eyemouth herring queens and maids decorate their houses;.
“I’ll have mine decorated for sure!”
