KIND-HEARTED colleagues and customers at Co-operative Food stores in the Borders have helped raise £5,500 for Borders General Hospital.

A series of events in stores raised the cash for the Margaret Kerr Unit at Borders General Hospital, which provides care for terminally ill patients.

Participating Co-operative Food stores included those in Jedburgh, Kelso, Hawick, Duns, Coldstream, Eyemouth, Galashiels, Melrose, St Boswells, Newtown St Boswells, Selkirk, Chirnside and Earlston.

Fundraising activities included dress-up days, cake stalls, book stalls, raffles and a sponsored bike ride.

Jason Mihulka, The Co-operative Food’s operations manager in the area, said: “As a community retailer, getting behind local charities is important to us. The Margaret Kerr Unit is a fantastic resource for the Borders and we were pleased to have been able to help them.

“We’d also like to thank all our customers who helped so generously.”

The donation was presented to the Margaret Kerr Unit, at The Co-operative Food store in Jewellers Wynd, Jedburgh.
