A GREENLAW firm is helping Scottish Borders Brewery marks its first anniversary by creating a special candle to mark the production of its 250,000th pint.
Border Aromatics has created a special ‘beer candle’ to mark the fact that the Scottish Borders Brewery, Scotland’s only plough-to-pint microbrewery, reached this special landmark last week.
The bewery has also grown to supply over 200 outlets across central Scotland and the north of England and now boasts a portfolio of five real ales including recent releases, Holy Cow a 4.2% best bitter and Wee Beastie a 3.6% lower alcohol ale.
Brewery owner John Henderson: ”When we rolled out our first casks in February 2011 we knew that for sustainability we needed to establish a network of at least 20 customers. We have achieved ten times this in the space of just 12 months.”
Located in a converted farm steading near Jedburgh, the Brewery uses malting barley grown in its own fields and its on-site artesian spring water supply to create its range of cask real ales.
The beers have an easy drinking style and have been developed to appeal to a broad customer base.
John added: “The response we have received to all of our products has been amazing. Our combination of local provenance and our commitment to producing great tasting cask beers has enabled us to rapidly gain a strong customer base and establish ourselves as a player within the Scottish real ale market.”
