Grant Campbell’s dream of one day being Coldstreamer and leading the cavalcade of horses and riders to Flodden Field during Coldstream Civic Week, has come true and on Friday he was installed as the 2013 Coldstreamer.

Despite the less than spring-like weather there was a good crowd of Borders principals, Ex-Coldstreamers and local residents at Henderson Park for the installation ceremony.

Introducing proceedings, chairman of the Presenting Coldstream committee, Jim Leifer also welcomed last year’s Coldstreamer and this year’s Left Hand Man Liam Wallis and Right Hand Man Colin Leifer, who is Jim’s son.

Accepting the Coldstreamer’s sash, Grant referred to Coldstream as being the jewel in Scotia’s crown and said: “It has always been a dream of mine to have this accolade and I promise to uphold the town’s motto ‘Nulli Secundus’ (Second to none).

Watching proudly as their son was installed as Coldstreamer for the 500th anniversary year of the Battle of Flodden were Civic Week stalwarts Sally and Malcolm Campbell.
