This month sees the launch of a brand new church in Dunbar.

Grace Community Church, which is being established in the town by Musselburgh Baptist Church, will be launched at a special service in Dunbar Grammar School on Saturday, August 27, at 2.30pm. Weekly Sunday services will begin the following day (August 28) at the Hallhill Healthy Living Centre at 10.30am.

The Pastor of the new church is Andy Dalrymple, who joined the staff at Musselburgh Baptist in January 2009, having moved across from his native Northern Ireland with his wife Sarah. He and Sarah have been living in Dunbar since November 2010 and have been working hard on setting up the new congregation. A number of members of Musselburgh Baptist Church already live in and around Dunbar, and have been meeting regularly in the town over recent months.

Speaking in advance of the launch weekend, Andy said: “We can hardly believe that Grace Community Church Dunbar is about to become reality, and we are excited at the prospect of meeting regularly for Sunday worship. Of course this is just the beginning. We want to become an integral part of community life here in Dunbar as we share and live out our faith. So at ‘Grace’ we will aim to make much of the fact that true religion is about a personal relationship with the living God through faith in Jesus Christ. Our desire is that we might be used by God to bring more of his blessing to this part of the world, and that others will join with us in that.

“We hope that people will feel free to come along to any of our services or church events. They can be sure of a warm welcome.”
