Wanted - new youth information agents!
The school’s current information supremos are looking to sing up more pupils for their information day on Wednesday, October 5, between 10am and 2.30pm in the school’s PE seminar room.
Youth Information Agents are responsible for the information board at the school and meet weekly to update it, research new information and make sure opportunities for young people are advertised to all!
Do you work well in a team? Are you creative? Are you good at research and IT? Do you understand what young people want? Then this is your chance to get involved and do your bit for the community.
And other Berwickshire pupils are also getting involved and making sure that councils and those who have the power to change things know what young people think needs changing - in Duns it’s poor public transport, in Eyemouth it’s road safety.
They are doing this through their involvement with Berwickshire HYPPE (Helping Young People Participate and Engage) and three school students, Kate Leigh, Iain Richards and Ollie Smith recently attended a meeting of the Berwickshire Locality Youth Services Sub-Group, - a team of professionals who work with or provide services for young people - to let them know how HYPPE is engaging with young people and how it is helping them.
The youngsters highlighted the work of Youth Chex, run by HYPPE panels. Youth groups can make applications to Youth Chex for funding and youngsters sit on the panel that decides which groups meet the criterai and which projects they can help .
The youth services members were very interested to hear about the work of HYPPE, and offered their advice advice.
New funding from Youth Chex is available and the closing date for applications is October 21. Contact Coreen Knight for an application pack on 01896 755110.
