Future plans for Paxton playpark under discussion

THE enthusiastic group of Paxton residents including five younger members and Councillor Michael Cook, spent Saturday taking part in the Paxton Litter Pick as part of 'Keep Scotland Tidy. Although Paxton is already a tidy village, the collectors were so motivated, and found it a positive experience with a positive result, on a positively beautiful day. The group were grateful to Alan McLeod and his SB Local colleagues for their support in supplying gloves, litter pickers, collection bags and the eventual collection of litter collected, and also to the Keep Scotland Tidy team for their support, including colourful tabards.

Hutton and Paxton Community Council are currently working with local youngsters to try and find them a ‘meeting zone’.

Recognising that young people contribute to village life the community council are looking at how the play park is used.

A statement from the community council says: “On the wider issue, it was suggested that there was a need to adjust the relationship of the park with the community, one that would involve some imaginative thinking with specific goals and targets for both young people and parents. It was also hoped that there could be a sense of parental responsibility and to that end, the issue of a further meeting involving parents of those using or likely to use the Playpark was suggested. Date to be confirmed.

It was noted that the swings in the Playpark had been repaired but the goal area grass continues to require attention.
