Fuel duty regulator for an independent Scotland suggested

The benefits to the Scottish Borders of having a fuel duty regulator have been highlighted by Paul Wheelhouse, the SNP South of Scotland MSP.

In some rural parts of Scotland motorists are paying 40% a litre more than in many other EU nations and Paul said: “After being relentlessly hammered at the pumps people in the Scottish Borders and other areas of rural Scotland deserve far better.

“Westminster’s fuel taxes are causing enormous problems for many motorists and hauliers across the Scottish Borders, and for tourists visiting our region and we have been enduring these taxes imposed by Westminster for far too long.

“Only through a Yes vote in September 2014 will Scotland have a fuel duty regulator and be able to give hard working families and businesses across the Scottish Borders, and tourists coming here too, a break from the pressure being foisted on them by a Westminster Government.”
