On May 29 this year, family and friends were devastated by the death of Rae Baxter. To celebrate her life, members of the former Duns Ladies Hockey Club and her friends at Duns Golf Club wanted to do something in her memory.

As a result a special fun day was staged at the Golf Club. It was a day packed with “daft” races which all had a twist to them and it was a day all those who attended will remember.

An amazing amount of money was raised for the Margaret Kerr Unit where Rae spent her last weeks and a cheque for £2,542.53 has been presented to Annabel Howell (Associate Medical Director, Primary and Community Services and Palliative Care

NHS Borders and The Margaret Kerr Unit)by Colin and Michael Baxter along with members of the hockey and golf clubs. Large contributers to this amount were Colin’s niece, who raised over £180 doing a fun run, and the Berwickshire Art Society who gave a generous donation of £100.
