Plans for the proposed extension to Fallago Rig wind farm go on display next week at Westruther and Lauder.

Two public exhibitions showing a revised plan for the proposed extension will take place on Tuesday, September 8, in Lauder Public Hall, 2.30pm-7.30pm and on Wednesday, September 9, at Westruther Village Hall between 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

Fallago Rig 2 project manager, Margaret Hanson of EDF Energy Renewables said, “The plan for the extension has been revised after speaking to a number of local people, local businesses, statutory consultees and local groups during our extensive engagement programme and at two exhibitions in January this year where we listened to their feedback.

“As a result we have dropped the number of turbines proposed from 17 to 12.”

The revised 12 turbine scheme, will have the capacity to produce up to 41.4 megawatts (MW) adding to the 144MW capacity of the existing Fallago Rig Wind Farm.

EDF plan on creating another community benefit fund for Fallago Rig 2, its current community benefit fund having granted £300,000 to 16 local projects so far.

During the two exhibitions happening in September you will have the opportunity to view the plans and ask questions to the development team.

In December 2013 EDF Energy Renewables sold a majority stake in the existing Fallago Rig wind farm to Hermes GPE and has retained a minority stake in the site, operating and maintaining the wind farm on a day-to-day basis.

At the public exhibitions EDF Renewables also intend demonstrating how the wind farm development will benefit the region through using local contractors.
