Irene Aitchison was presented with the Pride of Eyemouth award at a special event at the town’s Tavern pub.

The community voted for Irene because of her “amazing achievements in fundraising for charities which are too numerous to mention”. A flavour of the range of charities and local groups Irene’s fundraising has benefited includes Eyemouth RNLI, Eyemouth Herring Queen, the town’s pipe band, Saltgreens care home, , Brain Tumour Research, Macmillan Cancer, etc etc etc.

True to form Irene was back at the Tavern the following evening to raise funds for the Sick Children’s charity! She has been fundraising at the Tavern for over 14 years, a record acknowledged by publican Douglas Stewart who hosted the event.

She was presented with the Pride of Eyemouth award by last year’s recipient David ‘Bing’ Collin (pictured above with Irene) who was recognised for his services to the Eyemouth community.

This is the third year of the Pride of Eyemouth awards organised by the Eyemouth and District Community Trust.
