FOLLOWING extensive enquiries, police have now charged a 25-year-old man from Edinburgh with robbery, and attempted robbery which occurred at Chapel Antiques, High Street, Eyemouth on July 22.
Residents and shopkeepers were left stunned by the incident that took place on a quiet Thursday morning in the town.
Three men in balaclavas and boiler suits threatened owners of Chapel Antiques, Simon and Denise Rutherford, before making off with goods.
Two of the men escaped on foot and two locals gave chase but to no avail.
The third man fled in a red Vauxhall Astra that was later abandoned.
Fortunately for Mr and Mrs Rutherford, the items taken were later recovered.
A spokesperson for Lothian and Borders Police said that enquiries were still ongoing in an attempt to apprehend the other two men involved.
