A volunteer lifeboat crew returned home from Ireland with the village’s lifeboat last week.

The vessel had been in Ballyhack, County Wexford, for a refit.

The volunteer RNLI crew had an eventful passage, with rough weather encountered from Dun Laoghaire to Larne, then assisting Mallag lifeboat in a search for a missing kayaker, being delayed in Portree for an extra day waiting for more favourable weather conditions, then taking a chance to exercise winching operations with a Bond rescue helicopter.
