PUPILS from Eyemouth High School put their business brains into gear last month for a national competition.
And the efforts of team ‘Guardog’ members certainly paid off as they received the Judges Commendation at The Business Experience Final; a stimulation event primarily designed to introduce young people to the idea of starting their own business.
Teams from Lothian and Borders schools went head to head in the competition which was held at The Pentlands Science Centre on Tuesday, November 8.
Each team were given a theoretical budget to spend to hire various local business experts in fields which included finance, web design, marketing and product design to help them develop their business ideas before presenting them to a panel of judges.
Guardog designed a product called the ‘Barkbelt’ which is a seatbelt for dogs, making it safer for them to travel in a car. Guardog’s business slogan was‘Keeping Tails Wagging’.
The team, lead by Dominic Gall, would like to thank their Social Subjects Teachers Miss Barclay and Mr Watson for their support and encouragement before and during the event.
‘Guardog’ hope the success of their idea will inspire students for years to come.”
