FOLLOWING a spate of incidents in the Eyemouth, Hawick and Galashiels areas regarding skimming and cameras devices being discovered on ATM cash machines, a Community Police Officer will be at Eyemouth co-op on Wednesday, December 21 from noon until 4pm to raise further awareness of this fradulent crime.
The Bank of Scotland cash point in Manse Road was targeted by fraudsters last month and local PC Kirsty Nash said : “With Christmas fast approaching, I would like to encourage as many people as possible to come along. I will be giving advice on the safe use of ATM machines and handing out information on ways in which people can keep their personal information safe.
“Our aim over the two days is to raise awareness of ATM crime and with members of the public visually observing such equipment, people will be more aware as to what to look out for”.
Community Officers have also been able to source an example of a skimming device and camera, which have been used in the commission of crime, and these will be on display at the event.
