Engineering interest in a science career

TORNESS nuclear power station staff are working with S2 pupils from Dunbar Grammar School on a biomass power generation project that aims to ignite their interest in a career in science.

Two of the station’s engineers, Tim Whitmore and Gavin Rae, are supporting the Dunbar Grammar School pupils through the 10 week programme.

Tim said: “As well as sharing our experience of environmental problems on a commerical scale, we will help the pupils develop project management techniques to ensure they cover all the area they need to.

“Nucelar energy is one of the greenest forms of electricity provision and we hope that by sharing our experience of the importance of looking after the environment, the pupils will adopt these behaviours.”
